What Chronic Conditions Share Symptoms of Chronic Fatigue?

Like many chronic conditions, chronic fatigue can be hard to diagnose because it has symptoms similar to other conditions, which is why it can take time to be diagnosed.

In this post, we look at other chronic conditions that you may be tested for or wrongly diagnosed with before getting a diagnosis of chronic fatigue.

Suddenly being unable to concentrate or maintain concentration can be upsetting.  While it is a common symptom of chronic fatigue, it is also frequently a symptom of Alzheimer’s Disease, Anxiety, and Depression.

Another common complaint is fatigue or complete exhaustion.  Chronic fatigue shares this symptom with conditions such as Anxiety, Crohn’s Disease, Cystic Fibrosis, Depression, Fibromyalgia, Lupus, Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Sarcoidosis, as well as others.

If you are running a low-grade fever, it may be Chronic Fatigue, but it may also be a sign of Crohn’s Disease, Gout, Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Sarcoidosis, or Thyroiditis.

Many people with Chronic Fatigue mention suffering from long-lasting, painful headaches. This can also be a symptom of fibromyalgia, Glaucoma, Hypertension, Hypothyroidism, Lupus, Lyme Disease, and Sleep Apnea.

Memory issues are reported in Chronic Fatigue Patients and those with Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, Fibromyalgia, and Multiple Sclerosis.

Another symptom that Chronic Fatigue shares with other diseases is joint pain.  This symptom is one of the most common for the following conditions: Crohn’s Disease, Fibromyalgia, Gout, Lupus, Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Scleroderma.

Weakness can be a sign of Chronic Fatigue, Diabetes, Migraine Headaches, and Sarcoidosis.

As you can see, chronic fatigue can be difficult to diagnose because of the overlapping symptoms with other conditions.  As a result, it’s not uncommon to discover you are first diagnosed with a different condition.  Some people will be misdiagnosed several times before finally receiving a diagnosis of Chronic Fatigue.

Typically, a doctor takes note of your symptoms and asks questions about the severity and duration of the symptoms to start the diagnostic journey. If your symptoms are a result of chronic illness, connect with us today at Supportegy Wellness Coaching and learn how you live an empowered life.
